"Problems at work are no problem for us"
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA) is a federal statute that protects employees over the age of 40 from age discrimination in the workplace. This protection encompasses both conditions and privileges of employment. State or federal government employees with 20 or more workers are protected by the ADEA.
It also unlawful for employers to retaliate against employees for opposing discriminatory practices. Similarly, the New York State Human Rights Law, and the New York City Human Rights Law, also contains legal protection for employees over the age of 40.
